Thanks for visiting our brand spanking new website. This is a work in progress, an experiment without a version number. Things will change and evolve over time once we figure out what we want to do with this thing. One thing’s for sure—calling this a beta would be just lazy. We don’t wanna be like that, do we? "
Weeknote 254
Design for startups, launching Ruutu.fi, iPad first vs. Windows 8 first
Dang, August was busy! We were hammering projects left and right in August. That’s why some weeknotes were missed again. Nevermind, let’s see what we’ve done recently.
Weeknote 251
Why design for Windows 8 Modern UI, and how Netflix & HBO just disrupted the Finnish TV industry.
We’ve been into Windows 8. Just recently we’ve done two application concepts and one actual application for Windows 8. The application was called “the best one we’ve seen” in Microsoft design review. That’s nice. Who did the other apps?
Weeknote 236
Boom! We make future happen. This week’s weeknote is self-congratulatory.
We were awakened to a realisation of our current line-up of projects which are simply awesome.
Weeknote 235
Connected TV, Winning and Bi-Winning at #grandone
God damn, weeks just fly when you’re waiting for the Spring and dodging the snowy comebacks of the Winter. Luckily we’re not the only ones. But let’s give it a go again.
Weeknote 227
Floating fish, design reviews, service design and the future of television.
Last week Tia and Kate hopped over to Berlin to present research and participate in a client workshop for an ongoing project. The research period was five weeks long and the main challenge lay in condensing the information gathered from ten interviews (which spawned twenty hours of recordings and 150 pages of transcript).
Weeknote 204–205: We are back!
Hey ho! The summer is back and we're back in business. People came back from their holidays in waves during the last three weeks or so. And now we're back doing projects.
First two of these weeks it was just me & Kate cleaning the office — continuing a task that Matti had started in the beginning of the summer. Kate is mostly to thank for this effort though. She cleaned all the team rooms, kitchen, office supplies and whatnot. I was mostly a hard labor robot, […]
Weeknote 159-160
We're not on holidays yet, no no. Instead we cranked out a multitouch tablet TV concept and launched a service.
The service has been in the making for quite a long now. It’s good to finally see it go online and start to pickup users. In fact, due to the unique nature of this service it has a potential to grab huge number of users from the general populace.
Week 149
Weeknote about new developments in Agile process, services getting nearer to launch and some quickies.
A client is very interested in deepening cooperation with us. This development looks very promising going forward. It seems that Nordkapp’s honest, open and user centered approach on concept and service design is much needed “breath of fresh air” for big organizations as well. Making development based only on technical decisions or hand-waving just won’t do it anymore.
